About Therapy

The Next Step Really Could Change Everything

You’ve been alone with your memories, feelings, beliefs, and fears for a long time. The lies that came from your past have been weighing heavily on you.

The past doesn’t change, but the weight you carry because of it, the lies it convinced you to believe, and your tomorrows… can.

What if you could actually step away from life, just for a minute, and have a space that was safe enough to say what happened, what you feel on the inside, and what that voice speaks to you?

You Can

Our practice is that space. It’s your sacred ground to do the work that you know you could never do in the mix of everyday life.

In this place, messy is beautiful, tears are welcomed, and baby steps are enough. We'll be sure that we celebrate every inch forward!

You are safe here, but you’re not alone. We are in this with you - one step at a time. You can do this, and we can help.

How We Help

Our team is trained in multiple evidence-based approaches and will match your needs with the team member who can most effectively meet them. You will work together to process what would otherwise be overwhelming

We know that choosing to trust us to join your process is no small thing.

Whether yo you are working with me or one of my amazing providers, building genuine relationships with our clients is at the center of who we are and what we do. We will honor the risk you are taking and focus on helping you find your voice again.

We will also ask you hard questions, offer challenging thoughts, and be honest in our observations while protecting this safe space we have the privilege of giving.

About Crystal Lawson Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW

I’m a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in the field and founder of Causeway Counseling. But more importantly, I’m a real person.

I’m a single mom of five children who came to me through the journey of adoption, and I’m deeply immersed in the beautiful, exhausting, meaningful, and sometimes overwhelming realities this season of life brings. I understand what it feels like to carry a lot while still trying to show up for everyone else. I know the weight of worry, the pressure to hold things together, and the quiet moments where you wonder if things could feel easier than they do right now.

That’s why the heart of our work is creating a space where you don’t have to pretend. A space where you can exhale. Where you can be honest about the hard things without fear of judgment or shame.

Whether you’re feeling stuck in anxiety, weighed down by depression, overwhelmed by parenting, navigating relationship pain, or trying to heal from experiences that still affect you long after they happened, you don’t have to carry it alone anymore.

Whether it’s me or one of the incredible providers you can read more about below, we are here to meet you with compassion, authenticity, and genuine care. We believe healing happens in safe relationships - in being seen, heard, and understood exactly as you are.

And while change may not happen all at once, it can happen. Little by little, things begin to feel lighter. You begin to understand yourself differently. You find new ways to cope, connect, and move forward. Hope starts to return in places that once felt heavy and uncertain.

You’ve already taken the first step by being here. We’d be honored to walk alongside you in whatever comes next.

About Hannah Anderson Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW

I'm so glad you're here!

Reaching out for therapy takes courage. If you’re considering counseling, I hope you recognize the strength it took to take this first step. Something in you believes life can feel lighter, more peaceful, and more whole — and that hope matters.

I provide individual therapy for children (8+), adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm, and trauma. I’m especially passionate about working with trauma survivors and first responders who carry the unique weight of high-stress experiences. You don’t have to hold it all together here.

I am trained in EMDR and animal-assisted play therapy, both evidence-based approaches that support trauma healing. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded — where healing doesn’t feel clinical, but deeply human.

As a person of faith, I believe healing involves the mind, body, and spirit. For clients who desire it, I welcome spiritual integration into our work together in a way that feels authentic and supportive.

Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is not to “fix” you — because you are not broken. My role is to walk alongside you, offering tools, support, and a steady presence as you move toward the life you want. When you feel ready, I would be honored to take that next step with you. Reach out by phone or email — your healing journey can begin today.

About Joann Hammack Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW

It takes courage to allow yourself to be vulnerable and entrust someone to listen to the hurt, pain, and stressors in life. My goal is to create a space that feels steady, welcoming, and genuinely collaborative.

There is no need to have everything figured out before you begin. One of the most meaningful parts of this work is witnessing the moments when clients begin to see themselves with more compassion and clarity. Being able to walk alongside someone as they reconnect with their strengths, make sense of their experiences, feel more empowered and grounded in who they are is something I don’t take lightly.

Whether we are focusing on emotional regulation, building insight, or strengthening resilience, I want you to feel supported, respected, and able to explore what is going on at a pace that feels right for you.

My background includes experience across a range of clinical settings including hospice, community mental health, home health, and pregnancy/parenting. I am especially committed to working with preteens, teens and young adults who are finding their footing, as well as adults who feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed and want a space to reconnect with themselves. I am here to help you navigate the emotional challenges that show up at various stages of life.

I often support people dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I draw from different therapeutic interventions including CBT, DBT, emotionally focused therapy, and a person-centered approach to help you understand what has been weighing on you and build practical tools that fit your unique needs.  Other special areas of interest include grief, ADHD, women’s issues, and geriatric counseling.

Taking the first step can be scary.  I am ready to start this journey with you.

About Ruger Certified Therapy Dog

Ruger is a 90-pound Golden Retriever with an even bigger heart. He will most often greet you with a wagging tail and a toy in his mouth. He is a certified therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has earned his Canine Good Citizen award, reflecting his calm temperament, strong training, and love for people.

Ruger’s presence in the therapy room often brings an added sense of comfort and ease. Whether he’s quietly resting nearby, offering a gentle nudge for a pet, or simply sharing his steady presence, many clients find that he helps sessions feel safer and more grounded.

Outside of work, Ruger enjoys playing ball, going for walks, and embracing his favorite role as a couch potato. He takes his job seriously — but he also believes in the healing power of a wagging tail.

Ruger can’t wait to meet you and be part of your journey.
