About Crystal Lawson, LCSW

I’m here to help.

I’m an Illinois-based therapist who specializes in trauma, anxiety, women’s issues, parenting/adoption journeys, and transitions. I provide support for teens and adults.

Change isn’t easy (even when it’s “good”).

I want you to know I understand what it’s like to be where you are, and I get that change, even when it’s good, isn’t easy. It’s a journey, and I am honored to walk it with you. There is a path forward, and you don’t have to walk it alone.

You're here because you want change, and you are brave enough to try- or try again.

I help people just like you experience healing, cope with life’s challenges, and uncover all that is already inside them. My office is a collaborative and compassionate space where you are safe to process and feel. Every person’s journey is unique, so we will personalize the way we approach the work to you. You will decide what is important to you today, and together, we’ll create a path toward what you want your future to look like.

In my work, I utilize various evidence-based, effective methods, including EMDR and bilateral stimulation methods, Internal Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe that any approach is a tool that can be combined, modified, and utilized in ways that make sense for the individual, and I love the process of finding the right fit and best combinations for my clients.

How I work:

At the core of my approach to therapy is genuine relationship.

It’s not about a quick fix. It’s about real, lifelong change.

Therapy with me is…

  • I may not have lived you life's experiences, but I have faced my own. I know what it is to do the work, and all the challenges that come with it.

  • Healing isn't linear and feelings are always changing. Growth and change take time.

  • Even when you can't change the circumstances, you can find change for yourself within them. You will start to notice differences in how you respond to life, manage the voice in your head, and see yourself.
